Alkagesta has received an EcoVadis Committed Badge, according to an announcement published by the commodities trading company. It presented the recognition as an acknowledgement of its approach to responsible business across its international trading activities, and as a basis for further work on sustainability rather than an endpoint for its efforts.
The company said the EcoVadis assessment covers four areas: environmental performance, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The review uses evidence to examine businesses’ policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised sustainability standards. Alkagesta described the badge as reflecting its performance across those assessment criteria, while also providing a structure through which it can pursue improvements in the areas examined by EcoVadis.
In its announcement, Alkagesta linked the recognition to its wider environmental, social and governance commitments. These include ISCC and CORSIA certification relating to sustainable aviation fuel trading, together with access to EU ETS allowances. The company also cited continued investment in environmental research initiatives, identifying the Clean Caspian startup as one example. It placed these activities alongside the badge as elements of its broader sustainability agenda.
Chief executive Orkhan Rustamov said the recognition reflected work throughout Alkagesta to make responsible practices part of everyday business management. His comments emphasised integrating those practices into operations, rather than treating them as a distinct programme. He also linked the company’s responsibilities to its role in trading commodities that are central to the global economy, stressing integrity and transparency in the way it conducts business.
Rustamov characterised the award as a starting point for further progress and said Alkagesta would continue working to lift its standards across the subjects covered by EcoVadis. The company’s account therefore framed the badge both as recognition of work already undertaken and as a framework for its next stages of improvement.
